# MCP tools

> The tools an AI assistant can use in your ZynfoAI workspace through the MCP server, the permission each one needs, and example questions.

An assistant connected to ZynfoAI sees a list of tools and picks the right one for your question. You
don't call them by name. You ask in plain words, and the assistant shows which tool it used.

An assistant only sees the tools its key or connection has the permission for. If a tool is missing,
create a new key, or reconnect the app, with that permission ticked. See
[API keys](/api-and-mcp/api-keys).

## The tools

| Tool | Permission | What it does |
| - | - | - |
| `search_knowledge_base` | Search the knowledge base | Finds the passages of your knowledge base that best match a question, with their sources |
| `list_tickets` | Read tickets | Lists tickets, newest first. Filter by status, priority or search text |
| `get_ticket` | Read tickets | Opens one ticket by its number |
| `list_leads` | Read leads | Lists leads. Filter by status or search text |
| `list_contacts` | Read contacts | Lists the people you've talked to, most recently active first. Filter by search text or stage |
| `list_conversations` | Read conversations | Lists chats from the website, WhatsApp and email. Filter by active or ended |
| `get_conversation` | Read conversations | Opens one conversation with its last 200 messages |
| `get_usage` | Read plan usage | Shows your plan, AI replies used this month and knowledge sources |
| `ask_agent` | Ask the AI agent | Asks your AI agent a question, as a customer would. **Uses one AI reply** |

Every tool except `ask_agent` only reads. Lists return up to 50 items at a time, and the assistant can
ask for the next page.

## Filters

* **Ticket status:** `open`, `in_progress`, `waiting_on_customer` or `resolved`. A call takes one status
  at a time. To see every active ticket, an assistant checks the first three.
* **Ticket priority:** `low`, `medium`, `high` or `urgent`.
* **Lead status:** `new`, `contacted`, `qualified`, `converted` or `lost`.
* **Contact stage:** `visitor`, `lead` or `customer`.
* **Conversation status:** `active` or `ended`.

## Example questions

* "Show my open ZynfoAI tickets."
* "Open ticket 42 and summarise it."
* "Search my ZynfoAI knowledge base for the refund policy."
* "List my five newest leads."
* "Find the contact with the email [jane@example.com](mailto:jane@example.com)."
* "Look at my last 10 conversations and tell me what customers ask most."
* "How many AI replies have I used this month?"
* "Ask my ZynfoAI agent whether we ship to Canada." (uses one AI reply)

You can combine them: "Search my knowledge base for shipping times, then check whether any recent
tickets contradict it."

## Limits

* 60 requests a minute for each key or connected app. An assistant that goes over gets a "too many
  requests" message and should wait a moment.
* A search or a question can be up to 2,000 characters.
* `search_knowledge_base` returns up to 10 passages, 5 by default.
* If the monthly AI replies are used up, `ask_agent` gets the same message customers get.
