# Connect AI agents to ZynfoAI

> Let Claude, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Codex or your own scripts read your ZynfoAI knowledge base, tickets, leads, contacts and conversations, and ask your AI agent a question, through the MCP server or the REST API. Pro plan and the trial.

You can let an AI assistant such as Claude, ChatGPT, Perplexity or Codex, or a script of your own,
work with your ZynfoAI workspace. For example, you can ask Claude "Which tickets are still open?" or
"What do customers ask about shipping most?" and it answers from your real data.

It can read these things:

* your **knowledge base**, searched by meaning
* **tickets**, **leads** and **contacts**
* **conversations**, with their messages
* your **plan usage**
* and it can **ask your AI agent a question**, the same agent your customers talk to

Access is **read-only**. An assistant can't create, change or delete anything in your workspace.

> [!NOTE]
>
> API and MCP access is part of the **Pro plan** and the 7-day trial. See
> [Upgrade and manage your plan](/billing/purchase-plan).

## Two ways to connect

| | Sign in with one click | Use an API key |
| - | - | - |
| Good for | Claude on the web, desktop and phone, ChatGPT, Perplexity | Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Codex, Cursor and your own scripts |
| How | Add ZynfoAI as a custom connector, sign in, click **Allow** | Create a key in **Settings → API keys** and paste it into the tool |
| Stays connected | Until you disconnect it. It renews itself while it's used | Until the key expires or you revoke it |
| Where you stop it | **Settings → API keys → Connected apps** | **Settings → API keys** |

Both reach the same MCP server at `https://app.zynfo.ai/api/mcp`. Developers can also call the
[REST API](/api-and-mcp/rest-api).

Pick one:

* [Connect Claude, ChatGPT or Perplexity](/api-and-mcp/claude-and-chatgpt)
* [Connect Claude Code, Claude Desktop or Codex](/api-and-mcp/claude-code-and-desktop)

## What an assistant can do

[MCP tools](/api-and-mcp/mcp-tools) lists each thing an assistant can do and the permission it needs.
You choose the permissions when you create a key or approve a connection, so you can give an assistant
access to the knowledge base only, for example.

## Keep your data safe

* **Customer details are included.** Tickets, contacts and conversations contain your customers' names,
  emails and messages. They are sent to the AI app you connect, so check that app's privacy terms.
  Connect only assistants you trust.
* **Give the least access that works.** Choose only the permissions an assistant needs.
* **Disconnect what you don't use.** You can revoke a key or disconnect an app at any time in
  **Settings → API keys**. It stops working at once.
* **Only owners and admins** can create keys and approve connections.
* **Asking your AI agent uses AI replies.** Each question you send through **Ask the AI agent** counts
  as one AI reply of your monthly allowance. Reading data doesn't.
* **Limits.** Each key or connected app can make 60 requests a minute.
* **If you leave the Pro plan,** keys and connected apps stop working. They aren't deleted, and they
  work again if you return to Pro.
