# Free plan and read-only mode

> Every new ZynfoAI account gets a 7-day trial with everything on. After that, without a paid plan, it's on Free: the AI keeps answering from your knowledge base, and the dashboard is read-only until you upgrade.

# Free plan and read-only mode

These rules are the same whether you signed up on zynfo.ai or installed the ZynfoAI app in Shopify.

## The 7-day trial

Every new account gets a **7-day trial with everything on**: all Pro features, including product
search for Shopify stores.

* **On zynfo.ai:** the trial starts when you sign up. No card is needed.
* **In the Shopify app:** the trial starts automatically when you finish onboarding. There's no
  Shopify charge to approve.

Nothing is charged when the trial ends. If you upgrade during the trial, you keep the days you have
left and billing starts when the trial ends. Each account gets one trial.

## After the trial: the Free plan

If you haven't upgraded when the trial ends, your account moves to **Free**. Your AI agent keeps
working for your customers:

* It answers from your knowledge base on website chat, WhatsApp and email.
* Up to **100 AI replies a month**. The count resets every month.
* Up to **15 knowledge sources**. Your Shopify store pages count as one source, and on Free the
  store's 14 most recently updated products are indexed.

Free doesn't include product search or the other ecommerce and automation features, such as order
lookups, automations and agent tools. When the 100 replies run out, the agent stops replying until
the monthly reset; customers' messages are still saved.

Your data is kept on Free. Nothing is deleted because a trial or plan ended.

## Read-only mode

On Free, the dashboard (or the app in Shopify) is **read-only**. You can open every page and see your
conversations, leads, tickets, knowledge sources and settings. When you try to change something, for
example add a source, edit the AI agent or invite a teammate, you see:

> **Your trial has ended — upgrade your plan**

Click **Upgrade** in that message to choose a plan.

These still work on Free:

* upgrading and managing billing;
* exporting your data, such as conversations and leads;
* deleting the workspace (owner only). See [Delete your workspace](/settings/delete-workspace).

## Upgrade

* **On zynfo.ai:** go to **Settings → Billing & Usage** and click **Upgrade to Pro** ($99 a month or
  $990 a year). See [Upgrade and manage your plan](/billing/purchase-plan).
* **In the Shopify app:** go to **Settings → Plan & billing** and choose **Pro** (\$99 every 30 days,
  billed by Shopify). See [ZynfoAI for Shopify](/integrations/store-app).

Everything switches back on as soon as the plan is active.

## When a paid plan ends

* **You cancel:** you keep full access until the end of the period you've paid for, then the
  account moves to Free.
* **A renewal payment fails:** you keep full access for 7 days so you can update your card. After
  that, the account moves to Free.
